Jimmy Pham with his organisation KOTO which he started in
1996, a big-hearted man saw a real need to help street kids
He first opened a sandwich shop employing 9 young people
who wanted to improve and change their lives after coming
in contact with mainly shoe shine boys in Hanoi City while
working for a travel company.
You see Jimmy isn’t the type of guy who could just walk
away, buy a post cards or get his shoes shined cleaned and
hop back on a plane back to Australia.

On a regular basis he is given well deserved acclaim,
Jimmy is a hero among many. The most important people
are those who he has given an opportunity to change their
lives and become valuable citizens in society.
To date 400 young people have gone through his program
in Hanoi and Saigon.
This just isn’t any program, that trains street kids to
be the best staff in all the finest hotels, but he helps
in every aspect of their lives. When they join KOTO they
live in-house, are given an allowance, a bicycle and everything
they need to begin their training. By the best hands in
the business, be it English Language, hospitality skills
and essential life skills.
Real life work experience is taken in Koto’s 120 seat
restaurant situated opposite the Temple of Literature
in Hanoi. When they graduate 100% placements are made
to the top hotels and restaurants in Hanoi and further

200 more enrolled, this social enterprise totally
prepares disadvantaged youth for a future where they
have an opportunity to fulfill their dreams.
